1) Afghanistan
Did you know that 87% of Afghanistan's female population is illiterate? And being illiterate means far less opportunity and empowerment for women. Young girls are also forced to marry as early as 15 years of age, put into arranged marriages they're unable to escape from. The number of domestic abuse cases reported in Afghan courts is unimaginably high. The maternal mortality ratio is 400 in every 100,000.
