Your traps, or trapezius muscles, are the flat, three pointed muscles that connect from the center of your neck to back between your shoulder blades. Your traps help stabilize and support a lot of lifting exercises you perform in the gym, so developing them is important.

Shrugs
Far and away one of the best exercises you can do for your traps is shoulder shrugs. You can perform shrugs in a variety of ways, including the Smith machine, barbells, dumbbells, and several different bench pressing machines.
You can perform shrugs in front or behind your body. Simply grip the weight you've selected with each hand, and (as the name implies), shrug your shoulders up, hold for a second, and release.
