The idea of Indian male beauty in India is not as far-fetched as you might have expected. They seem to like the same things that are liked the world over. Waxed chests, a crisp beard, and moderately muscular build are all staples.
However, there is a great emphasis placed on skin tone (which devolved into a caste system) where being lighter skinned equals being more attractive.
