Death is an inevitable and invariable part of life we simply can’t escape. And no matter the cause, the last moments that precede a person’s final breath usually carry similar symptoms.
There is a specific biology in death that pertains to the shutting down of the major organs. These symptoms are seen time and again in the hours leading up to death.

Death Rattle
This common symptom, often called the death rattle, is actually a form of swallowing dysfunction. When we are close to death, we have difficulty controlling the muscles of our tongue, which usually rests against the back of the teeth or top of the mouth, directing saliva, food, and liquid backwards.
This symptom on its own its not usually life threatening, but it is a common indicator that someone is near death.
