On United Airlines 1284, a flight attendant forced the owner to put her dog in an overhead compartment for the duration of almost 4-hour long flight from Houston to New York. Upon landing, the dog was dead.

The dog was accompanied by his owner, 11-year-old Sophia Ceballos, her mother Catelina Robledo, and her infant sibling.

Traditionally, overhead bins are reserved for passenger luggage only.

Passengers are allowed to carry animals on board in carriers and are asked to place them under their seats. In this tragic incident, the flight attendant pushed the owner to place the dog in the overhead bin, only to find that the dog had expired when the plane landed.
