In Haiti, there is a commune called Saut-d’Eau-which means “waterfall” in French. Each July, the inhabitants of the community participate in a fertility Vodou festival of Saut d’Eau. It takes place in a sacred waterfall. Everyone attends in the hopes of procreation, so women are encouraged to engage openly in many sexual relationships over the course of the three-day festival.
